Why the DNC is Hiding its Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: The Inside Story.

The move from the DNC to block the release regarding its own autopsy report concerning the 2024 election appears stunning however to be expected. Opposed to hard truths, the DNC behaves closer to a PR firm than an electoral entity focused on building grassroots capacities for winning elections.

A Culture Resistant to Internal Critique

Reluctant to break with the prevailing attitude of conformity, the committee has continued under the influence of the previous administration throughout 2025. Publishing such a report would have indicated whether the leadership actually want to encourage public discourse about the missteps which allowed Donald Trump to return to the White House. Yet, the leadership is moving forward as if there is little to glean from the tragic debacle of 2024.

"Here’s our North Star: will this lead to victory? If the answer is no, it is an unnecessary diversion from our fundamental goal," a justification reportedly given for withholding the document.

Major Failures a Report Might Have Examined

An autopsy report of substance would not dodge key points of failure. This encompasses:

  • Electoral Disengagement: Losing of millions of voters that backed the Democratic ticket during the previous election proved pivotal in the narrowly decided recent race.
  • The Choice to Run: The unwavering insistence of the incumbent to seek re-election, coupled with an extremely delayed withdrawal, has been criticized as robbing Democratic voters of a competitive nomination process.
  • Failing the Working-Class Base: While facing inflation, the electoral effort allegedly ceding to corporate donors' interests and not managing to address the impact of corporate greed.
  • A Foreign Policy Factor: An unwillingness to shift a policy position on a major international conflict reportedly led to losing significant blocs, notably among youth voters, Arab-Americans, and Muslim Americans.
  • A Decline in Young Voter Support: Polling data shows a huge decline of support for the party from the youth electorate.

A Record Avoiding Accountability

The decision to withhold aligns with a recurring tendency of evading uncomfortable facts. This mirrors an episode in which nearly all elected Democrat in Washington supported a sitting president's determination to seeking another term until a poor public debate performance forced an exit.

At the same time, overwhelming numbers of the electorate had been repeatedly informing pollsters that they did not want the incumbent to be the nominee.

Financial Concerns

An honest analysis could examine matters regarding financial allocations, such as what sums went to insider consultants and media firms during a campaign that burned through a staggering amount over a few months.

The Broader Problem

At its core, the secrecy regarding the analysis is symptomatic of a submission toward the established hierarchy that oversaw a losing electoral effort. The message to ordinary supporters – including countless loyal volunteers – is that they cannot be trusted to understand the lessons party chiefs claim to have learned from hundreds of interviews compiled from feedback from all states.

A political entity incapable to honestly assess its own failings will struggle to break free from the pattern which was so beneficial to the winning candidate.
